Sola Oyinlola

Non-Executive Director

Sola Oyinlola is a board member of FSD Africa. He recently retired as Chairman Africa at Schlumberger Limited, the world’s largest oilfield services company, where he worked for over 30 years.  He was also the Global Head of Sustainability and Social Responsibility, and was President of the Schlumberger Foundation from 2011 until 2015.  He remains on the Board of the Schlumberger Foundation, where he has been since 2006.  Prior to Schlumberger, Sola worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria.

 

He is currently Non-Executive Director of Guaranty Trust Bank, a leading Nigerian bank, and of Lekoil Limited, an oil and gas company focused on Africa.  Through his African Infrastructure Partners LLC, where he is Managing Partner, Sola invests in technology and infrastructure start-ups offering disruptive solutions to development challenges in Africa. He has an MBA from Stanford and a First Class Honors BSc in Accounting from the University of Ghana, Legon.

 

While in charge of the Schlumberger Foundation, he raised the profile of and secured long term funding for the Faculty of the Future programme, the Foundation’s flagship programme, which grants scholarships to women from the developing world to pursue PhDs and post-doctorate degrees in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields in the world’s top universities.  Today, 560 women from over 60 countries have benefitted from this prestigious fellowship programme, studying in 25 advanced countries.
