Fiifi Nyarko-Mensah is currently the Ghana Country Advisor and has over 17 years of experience working in the financial sector. Before joining FSD Africa, he worked with PHB Development as Digital Financial Services Consultant to the UNCDF The Gambia JSF Program – “Jobs, skills and finance’’ (JSF) for women and youth in The Gambia. He also worked on the UNCDF/Microlead Toolkits, were he was involved in a number of market assessments and case studies related to digital payments, branchless banking and innovative delivery channels involving some financial institutions in Ghana and Tanzania.

Before then, he consulted for The Palladium Group on the USAID Financing Ghanaian Agriculture Project. There he was involved in project reviews – scoping of USAID-FinGAP’s stalled deals to determine the causes why significant number of profiled Agribusinesses did not received financing and together with the project team, proposed action plans to move these stalled deals to bankable projects by way of technical assistance. Prior to that, he worked with the World Bank Group as a Short Term Consultant (STC) on the SECO/Ghana Digital Financial Services Program, undertaking and providing operational; and administrative support to the Program. Fiifi also held senior level positions in business development with AMSCO on the UNDP/ATMS Project for the Anglophone West African region; and he was also Head of Acquisition and Compliance at Airtel Ghana. He also had an extensive banking experience in the retail banking and SME banking segments at Standard Chartered Bank Ghana and Stanbic Bank Ghana.

Fiifi holds a Master’s degree in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana. He has completed Executive Education certificate program in Microfinance from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and a certificate program in Digital Money from the Digital Frontiers Institute/Tufts University – The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy.
