Welcoming our new director for human resources and talent management

 

Following an extensive recruitment process, Hellen Kong’ong’o joins FSD Africa as the Director for Human Resources and Talent Management effective 6th July 2020.

Prior to joining FSD Africa, Hellen was the Regional Director of Human Resources – Africa MENA for RTI International. Over the course of her career and with over 20 years of leadership experience in HR, she has managed and supported midsize and large, complex organizations with global employees, and has had the privilege of working in mission-driven organizations in the services, healthcare and non-profit sectors.

Hellen earned a Master’s degree in Global HR Management from the University of Liverpool (UK) and in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi (Kenya). She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Nairobi. Hellen has an HRBP professional certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute.

Hellen has honed her areas of expertise in employee relations, performancet and talent retention. On her appointment, Hellen said: “I am passionate about helping employees have an engaging work experience and supporting them by evolving their skills and competencies while helping leaders to build high performing teams through person-centred programmes and performance accountability.”

In her new role at FSD Africa, she will be responsible for creating and administering innovative HR programmes, policies, and systems to optimize talent management for FSD Africa and, on a regional level, for supporting the FSD Network in this area as well.

Hellen grew up in Nairobi where she resides with her husband and two kids. She enjoys the outdoors and spends her weekends doing some recreational running. She also loves cooking and is not shy to try her hand at a new recipe.  Hellen also has basic proficiency in the French language from Alliance Française, Nairobi
