In partnership with the Southern Africa Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SAVCA), we commissioned a market study in Southern Africa on the pension fund industry’s investment preferences and current levels of investment in the private equity and private debt market that included an analysis of obstacles and opportunities for pension funds, fund managers, and regulators in the region. The study covered Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and offers recommendations at both policy/regulatory and market-level, that will enable increased investment by pension funds and institutional investors into the private equity and debt markets in the region.
We are holding this webinar to officially launch the report, disseminate the findings and discuss the inhibitors that prevent Southern African pension funds from investing in the private equity and debt markets, and the opportunities to address these inhibitors to unlock more pension fund/institutional capital in the markets.
