Expression of Interest: Professional writing trainer & report editing and proofreading consultants or consultancy firms

FSD Africa (FSDA) is a Kenyan non-profit company which supports poverty reduction through Financial sector development across sub-Saharan Africa. FSDA sees itself as a catalyst for change, working with partners to build financial markets that are robust, efficient and, above all, inclusive. It uses funding, research and technical expertise to identify market failures and strengthen the capacity of its partners to improve access to financial services and drive economic growth.

FSDA is based in Nairobi, Kenya and funded by the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID)
FSDA is looking to build two panels of specialists – one comprising; a) Professional writing trainers and coaches, and the other, b) Technical report editors and proofreaders.

FSDA plans to call on each panel for short-term consultancy assignments or for longer-term, draw-down (i.e. retained consultant) arrangements. These calls for Expressions of Interest (EOI) aim to pre-qualify consultants so as to facilitate procurement for future assignments.

The scope of work will include:
• Professional writing trainer – design and delivery of a comprehensive professional writing course tailored to the needs of FSDA and FSD Network staff and the development of learning materials for use in the writing clinic as well as for continuous learning by the FSDA and FSD Network staff;
• Report editing and proofreading specialist – proofread FSDA reports and provide corrections to maintain FSDA’s established style, tone and form as well as provide extensive editing of reports and be capable of adjusting writing style for various targeted audiences.

EOI should contain:
• A maximum five-page description of: a) your understanding of the role of the consultant as outlined in this EOI, b) how you/your firm would deliver the types of tasks described; and c) your/your firm’s relevant experience and expertise.
• An annex including: a) your / your team members’ CVs, daily fee rates and locations, b) preferred length of assignment, c) willingness to travel, and d) availability over the next 12 – 18 months.

Please note – a fully costed proposal and/or detailed work plan is not required at this stage.

Your proposal should be sent by email to FSDA at info@fsdafrica.org by 1200 (EAT) on Wednesday, 13 January 2016.

The email should contain ’Expression of Interest: Professional writing trainer’ and/or ‘Expression of Interest: Report editing and proofreading specialist’ in the subject line.
