1. FSD Uganda Research Specialist

FSD Uganda (FSDU), part of the FSD Network, is recruiting a Research Specialist to lead its knowledge and evidence research work. Please find below an introduction to the role. Click here to read the full job description.

The Research Specialist is responsible for providing evidence and knowledge that may be used by stakeholders to evolve policies, regulations, products, services, strategies and other institutional arrangements that can guide and influence financial sector stakeholders towards meeting more effectively the financial needs of low income Ugandans and small businesses.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Masters Economics, Business Administration, Finance or Statistics
  • PhD ( as above) – as an added advantage

Job related experience and knowledge:

  • 8 years’ experience in applied research – ideally including some in the financial sector in East Africa
  • Knowledge of financial sector operations in the region
  • Knowledge of public sector management and functions in the region
  • Experience in disseminating and applying research results
  • Experience in building and managing partnerships.

2. FSD Uganda Policy, Legal & Regulator Specialist

FSD Uganda (FSDU), part of the FSD Network, is recruiting a Policy, Legal & Regulator specialist.

The specialist will be responsible for providing support that results in policy and institutional change removing barriers to access to financial services by poor people and improve the enabling environment of the financial sector (i.e. the legal, regulatory and policy framework).

Educational Qualifications:

  • First Degree – Bachelor in Social Science/ Economics/ Political Science
  • Masters in Economics or Masters in Development Studies or Masters in Policy related studies
  • Certification Project Management or Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management  (preferable)

Job related experience and knowledge:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in working with other stakeholders to influence government in taking certain courses of action (senior level)
  • Experience in policy research and analysis (Government policy)
  • Experience in building and maintaining networks and linkages
  • Experience in influencing for change.
